Another surprise result followed at 8am ET as Morocco deservedly beat Belgium 2-0 to really give themselves a good chance of exiting Group F. At 11 a.m., Alphonso Davies scored Canada’s first goal in the Men’s World Cup. They also scored the fastest goal of this tournament less than two minutes into the game but it wasn’t enough as they lost 4-1 to Croatia. With Canada’s loss, it was eliminated from the competition for the round of 16, while Croatia will lead Group F, ahead of Morocco on goal difference.
At 2pm, Germany will take on Spain in what could be the most important encounter of the group stages, although thanks to a win by Costa Rica Germany can still lose to Spain and their hopes are kept alive in the final game against Costa Rica on Thursday.
