Johnny Depp: Hollywood Vampires postpones US tour dates after the actor suffered a traumatic injury

Hollywood Vampires has postponed the first three dates of its 2023 tour after Johnny Depp suffered a “traumatic ankle injury”.

On Monday (May 29), a day before their tour was scheduled to begin, they announced the “sad” news that they would be rescheduling three concerts scheduled for this week.

And they wrote in a statement posted on Instagram: “Johnny suffered a painful ankle injury after his last appearance and his doctor advised him not to travel.”

“He’s been devastated by this turn of events, but he’s looking forward to resting so all four Vampires can give their best on the tour in Europe.”

Their first three shows, which were expected to take place on Tuesday (May 30) in Manchester, New Hampshire, Wednesday (May 31) in Boston, MA, and Thursday (June 1) in Bethel, New York, will instead take place in July.

All tickets will be honored for the new dates: Boston on July 28th, Manchester on July 29th and Bethel on July 30th.

The band, originally formed in 2012 by Depp and core members Alice Cooper and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, first shared in 2022 that they will reunite for a 2023 tour, alongside rhythm guitarist Tommy Henriksen.

The announcement of their revival came days after Pirates of the Caribbean The actor won a defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife, Amber Heard.

In June 2022, a jury found Heard had defamed Depp on all three counts and awarded him $10m (£8m) in damages and $5m (£4m) in punitive damages. Hurd was awarded $2m (£1.6m) in damages, but no punitive damages.

During the world premiere of his new movie Jane du Barry At the Cannes Film Festival, Depp spoke of being “boycotted” by Hollywood after the trial.

“Did I feel cut off by Hollywood? You mustn’t have had a pulse at that point to feel it.” [like]”None of this is happening, this is actually just a weird joke – I’ve been sleeping for 35 years!”

“Of course, when you’re asked to quit a movie you’re doing because something is just a bunch of vowels and consonants floating in the air, you feel a little interrupted,” Depp said.
