Giants Joe Schoen, Brian Dabul, Mike Kafka and more to attend Ohio State’s Pro Day

the Ohio State Professional day before 2023 NFL Draft It takes place on Wednesday, and the New York Giants will be there.

That was, frankly, a given. OSU’s Pro Day is one of the “must watch” events on the Pro Day circuit, as the Buckeyes have consistently put out talented NFL players. And it can be easy to read a lot into Pro Day attendance – in general, every team cares about every player and they’re looking for as much data as possible in order to set up their big board.

But the Giants battalion is not just a district and regional scout and a couple of coaches. Giants descend upon Columbus hard, with Albert Brier Report Their unit consists of:

  • General Manager Joe Schoen
  • Assistant General Manager Brandon Brown
  • Head coach Brian Dabul
  • Offensive coordinator Mike Kafka
  • Quarterback coach Shea Tierney
  • Offensive line coach Bobby Johnson

Way back in the days of Jerry Reese’s tenure, we used GM visits to our pro days as a measure of teams’ interest in prospects. Just judging by the amount of copper present, it is clear that the giants very Interested in Ohio State’s prospects – and we can also make some educated guesses as to who the Giants are interested in.

It’s worth noting that there are no defensive coaches on the roster, so we can probably assume that the Giants have little interest in any of OSU’s defensive prospects.

Most eyes in Columbus will be trained on quarterback CJ Stroud, but it would be an amazing development if the Giants had a genuine interest in him.

The most likely candidates are WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba and C Luke Wypler.

The Giants had dinner with Smith Ngegba on Tuesday.

Smith-Njigba is a big question mark at the top of the receiver depth chart after his 2022 season was derailed by injury. Giants wide receivers coach Mike Groh reportedly took a “close-up” look at the receiver at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine. Smith Ngegba was widely mocked by the Giants in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, but there are questions about him. Most of his production came with Offensive Rookie Of The Year Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave (who finished fourth in OROY voting) in the field, and teams will need to validate him and speculate on the long haul.

The Giants also have some very important center field questions after allowing John Feliciano and Nick Gates to leave via free agency. This year’s Center class is one of the strongest in recent memory, and the Wypler sports a fine positioning and sound technician.

Offensive tackles for Paris Johnson and Duane Jones could also be of interest, though the Giants are hopeful they can be assigned tackles left and right for the foreseeable future.

None of this means giants will In the process of drafting any of these players, but we must definitely keep in mind.
