Georgia vs South Carolina Score: Live Match Updates, Collegiate Football Scores, Top 25 NCAA Games Today

Georgia No. 1 is looking for a piece of its recently-earned status as the best team in college football for the 2022 season, as it rides on its dominant defense and leads 24-0 down the road in South Carolina. This is the conference opener for the Bulldogs in their quest for a fifth SEC East title in six years, and so far the reigning national champions have made the Gamecocks look very similar to each of their former rivals, who topped it 82-3 in two season-opening victories.

The fact that Georgia has found similar results with the likes of Oregon, Samford and South Carolina so far speaks to the efficiency with which the KirbySmart program works. Defense, in particular, lost a record in the NFL Draft and yet this group has yet to give up one more field goal through 10 quarters of action. Offensively, Georgia continued to rely on Stetson Bennett to lead the way, and although he showed up clearly under the weather at times this run, he did have a passing touchdown and is responsible for two of the Bulldogs’ quick games.

While the South Carolina defense had a few things to be proud of in the first half, such as restricting Georgia’s ground game to 79 yards and forcing one kick – more than Oregon could say in the break – the game was just as lopsided as the odds makers expected. Unless the South Carolina offense finds a rhythm, the day heads into the No. 1 remaining spot, with Georgia perhaps cementing its grip on that claim with another dominant performance.
