Briarcliff Love Story – Deadline

ExclusiveAcquired by Briarcliff Entertainment The Lost Weekend: A Love Story, the documentary in which Mai Bang discusses her whirlwind love affair with singer John Lennon, when she was only 23 years old and was his assistant. The film, which premiered in Tribeca, is directed by Eve Brandstein, Richard Kaufman and Stuart Samuels. The tale is told through May’s insider’s lens, capturing the love affair that shaped Lennon’s prolific post-Beatles period.

Briarcliff will premiere the documentary on digital and Blu-ray on October 13, 2023, the week of John Lennon’s birthday, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

A lesser-known chapter in the life of the late Beatle Lennon, it took Bang 50 years to tell her story on film. She recounts her 18-month relationship with John – an affair Yoko Ono herself arranged. During this period, May Joon helped reunite with his son, Julian Lennon, and was directly involved in his most productive post-Beatle period. This included releasing albums such as Mind Games, Walls and Bridges, and collaborations with David Bowie and Elton John. The film contains moments with Julian Lennon, Mick Jagger, Alice Cooper and Paul McCartney as May recounts what it was like to be a 23-year-old girl experiencing her unforgettable first love.
