WATCH: Cody Johnson and Reba McEntire win a standing ovation with an epic duo at CMA Fest

Texans came to Tennessee when Cody Johnson He brought his energetic live performance to the main stage of the CMA Festival for the first time ever.

Johnson had fans palming his hands during his performances of “Til You Can’t” and “Human,” and their excitement went through the roof when Reba McEntire joined him on a duet from her smash hit, “Whoever’s In New England.”

Prior to the duet, Johnson opened up about collaborating with Ripa and shared his gratitude for their working relationship.

“Riba will be on stage with me tonight. Today was the first day we sang together in the studio when we recorded ‘Dear Rodeo,’ which was really amazing.” “That was the first time I met Reba, and since then we’ve developed a really good professional relationship where she’s the type that if I need something, I can pick up the phone. And she replied, which is a huge deal because Reba and I aren’t that close.”

He went on to explain that he’s been working with Reba and her team to perfect the CMA Fest performance for some time.

“We went back and forth for six weeks about key and tempo and all the different things we were going to do for this song, and I think it ended up being perfect, just me and the guitarist,” Johnson shared.

Johnson also performed “Til You Can’t”.

The CMA Festival Special also featured Johnson’s inspirational rendition of “Til You Can’t”, which received an incredible audience response.

“Til You Can’t” was crowned CMA Single of the Year at the 56th Annual CMA Awards in fall 2022.

Produced by Trent Wilmon and co-written by Ben Stennis and Matthew J. Rogers, “Til You Can’t” was the lead single from Johnson’s, Human: The Double Album. It became Johnson’s No. 1 and multi-week number one song when it reached the top of the charts last year.

“I chose to record ‘Til You Can’t’ first because of the positivity in the song’s message. In our world today, we could use more positivity,” the former Texas native said. Secondly, because of how dynamic the melody is. I took it and ran with it.”

CMA Festival 2023

The three-hour CMA Fest special was hosted by Dierks Bentley, Elle King, and Lainey Wilson and aired on ABC on Wednesday, July 19.

The special is called the “Summer Musical Event” of over 30 surprise performances and collaborations, including Alabama, Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Leon Bridges, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Luke Combs, Dan + Shay, Jordan Davis, Vince Gill, The Hardy, Tyler Hubbard, and Little Town. , Ashley McBride, Reba McIntyre, Tim McGraw, Joe Di Messina, Old Dominion, John Bardee, Carly Pierce, Darius Rucker, Tanya Tucker, Keith Urban, and Lainey Wilson.

CMA Festival It celebrated its 50th anniversary with a record-breaking celebration in Nashville, from June 8th to June 11th.

The four-day event hosted an estimated daily attendance of more than 90,000, up 12% from 2022, according to the Country Music Association. In addition, Nissan’s stadium night parties have grown by 10% from 2022.

The festival has also hosted fans from all 50 states as well as a record-breaking 51 countries.

From rookies to legends, many artists started out as fans—some going back to the fan fair. Almost every artist during the festival has had their own experience as a fan, so for many of them, taking the stage at CMA Fest is a complete moment. We get the chance to celebrate our 50th anniversary just once, and doing so in such an impactful way means the world to us. Thank you Country Music!”

More than 300 works participated in it CMA Festival This year, including performances at the Chevy Riverfront Stage, Dr Pepper Amp Stage, Chevy Vibes Stage, Maui Jim Reverb Stage, and Hard Rock Stage as well as Fan Fair X inside Music City Center.
