The Seahawks claim two players on waivers

Thomas, who went undrafted out of NC State, was one of the Raiders’ standouts this preseason, recording 20 tackles, including two for loss. Last season’s NC State captain, Thomas, who is 5-foot-11 and 228 pounds, recorded 201 tackles, 32.5 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks, nine passes defensed and three interceptions over the past two seasons, earning him first-team honors. All-ACC honors in 2021 and second team honors last season.

Burns, who first signed with the Seahawks as a free agent in 2022, re-signed during the offseason and, after spending most of camp as an outside linebacker, moved inside and played nickel corner in Seattle’s preseason finale against Green Bay. Rattigan, who made the team as a rookie in 2021, appeared in 14 games as a starter before suffering a season-ending knee injury that limited him to five games last season. As a junior, Rattigan finished fourth on the team with 10 special teams tackles, and added five special teams tackles last season.

Additionally, safety Joey Blount and linebacker V. Jones cleared waivers after being waived/injured on Tuesday, meaning they’re both back on Seattle’s injured reserve list. Rookie safety Jonathan Sutherland also cleared waivers after being waived/injured and was later released from injured reserve with the injury settled.

With the addition of two more rookies, the Seahawks now have 14 rookies on their 53-man roster, and 22 players in their first or second year.
