A suspect was arrested Monday in a shooting that killed at least six people and injured 26 others during a parade near Chicago for the U.S. July 4th holiday.
A 20-year-old white man is suspected of opening fire on a crowd of people gathered for festivities in Highland Park in the northern US at around 10:15am local time (5:15pm in Switzerland). leakage. Festivities have stopped in this affluent suburb of Chicago and many surrounding cities.
After a brief car chase, the suspect was arrested “without incident,” Highland Park Police Chief Lou Jogmen told reporters Monday night.
“As we gather to celebrate our freedom, we must mourn the tragic loss of life and overcome our terror,” Mayor Nancy Rotering told a news conference. “As of now, we know that at least six people have died.”

A “para-military” mode of operation
Armed with a high-powered rifle, the young man opened fire on the crowd in this affluent suburban town of 30,000 on the shores of Lake Michigan. The man had posted himself on the roof of a business.
Police have identified the 22-year-old suspect. He posted a photo of a young man with a tattoo on his face.
This holiday Monday, hundreds of people, including many families with children, took their places on the sidewalks of Highland Park, across America, in the traditional American Independence Day parade.
On their flight, people left behind their personal belongings, which still litter the sidewalks: children’s bicycles, strollers, folding chairs decorated in the colors of the American flag.
