$165 million for obstetrician patients
147 former patients of a New York gynecologist accused of sexual assault will receive more than $165 million in damages.

Two New York hospitals announced Friday that they will pay a combined $165 million (in francs) to 147 former patients of an obstetrician who accused them of misconduct and sexual assault.
This doctor, Robert H., lost his right to practice in 2016 following revelations about him. He should be tried in federal court for these crimes that spanned more than two decades and harmed dozens of women.
Two of the hospitals where she practiced, Columbia University Irving Medical Center and New York-Presbyterian Hospital, created a special fund last year to compensate women who accused the gynecologist.
“We are deeply sorry for the pain that Robert Hayden’s patients have experienced, and we hope that this settlement will bring comfort to the women he affected,” Columbia University Irving Medical Center said in a statement.
“My doctor is a pervert”
Dr. Among Robert H.’s former patients is the wife of Andrew Yang, a former Democratic candidate for the White House. Evelyn Yang said in 2020 that she was sexually assaulted during her first pregnancy in 2012.
Evelyn Yang said she noticed her doctor asking inappropriate sexual questions during consultations, but said to herself: “Well, my doctor is a pervert, but I’ll focus on my baby’s health.” But one day, when she was 7 months pregnant, Robert Hayden, according to her, conducted an additional test at the end of a meeting to “draw her towards him.”
“He undressed me and examined me internally without gloves,” she told CNN. “I knew it was wrong. I knew it was an attack.” Years later, she testified in the New York District Attorney’s Office that the gynecologist was charged. On this occasion, he was tried by a grand jury.
