Emmanuel Macron chose to use Article 49.3 to pass his pension reform in the National Assembly, and a group of ministers met at the Elysée on Thursday, according to multiple sources in the executive and the majority.
The Cabinet authorized the Government to use 49.3.
Debate in the National Assembly should be initiated following this government meeting. However, using 49.3, the text will not be voted on and will be accepted by force.

Socialist Party leader Olivier Faure on Thursday condemned the president’s “wishes” as Emmanuel Macron decided to use Article 49.3 to pass his controversial pension reform without a vote in the legislature.
