Nicki Minaj, Maluma, Myriam Fares reveal the championship anthem

Nicki Minaj, Colombian singer-songwriter Maluma and Lebanese artist Myriam Fares have released their new single just in time for the World Cup.

The song, titled “Tokoh Taka”, has lyrics in English, Spanish and Arabic relating to the event to be held in Qatar.

“Tukoh Taka” peaked at No. 3 on the iTunes charts, behind Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ “Unholy” and Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero”.

The Music video on FIFA’s YouTube channel It has achieved 3.7 million views since it was uploaded yesterday afternoon.

The World Cup anthem follows in the footsteps of other successful football songs.

Ricky Martin received a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Performance after releasing “Copa de la Vida” for the 1998 World Cup.

Twelve years later, Shakira released “Waka Waka” which has garnered 3.2 billion views on Youtube and reached number 38 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.

Maluma and Miriam will perform the hit song at the FIFA Fan Fest today.

The World Cup finals are scheduled to begin on Sunday, with host nation Qatar kicking off the tournament against Ecuador in Group A matches.

The United States will kick off their campaign with a match against Wales on Monday at 2pm, and England and Iran will take on the other Group B matches at 8am.
