On 27 September 2023 at 5:00 PM, the Meteorological Department informed that a strong low pressure area has covered the North East region and issued a strong low pressure area notification no. 12 has been published. On September 27-29, 2023, a relatively strong southwest monsoon will sweep over the Andaman Sea. Southern region and Gulf of Thailand resulting in waves of 2-3 meters in the Upper Andaman Sea. Thunderstorm areas will increase to more than 3 meters. In the Lower Andaman Sea and Upper Gulf of Thailand, waves will rise to around 2 meters. Waves may reach over 2 meters. Boaters are advised to proceed with caution. Also avoid traveling in thunderstorm areas. Small boats in the Upper Andaman Sea should also avoid leaving the shore during the above days and times.
