Matt Lafleur credits Tom Clements with Jordan Love’s “big strides”.

Last year, the Packers brought back quarterback coach Tom Clements after apparent insistence from Aaron Rodgers. And Clements could be one of the keys to getting the most out of Rodgers’ successor.

On Saturday, Packers coach Matt Lafleur praised Clements for helping Love prepare for his new starter status at Green Bay.

“Just watching him last year, I think Jordan has come a long way,” LeFleur told reporters via NFL.com’s Brenna White. “I really do, I think Much of it is credited to TomHe just knows how to train these guys. He knows how to dig it and is very consistent. He doesn’t sugarcoat anything. It is just a fact and I think there is no doubt.”

There’s no doubt that Clements, Brett Favre’s Green Bay dating back to the Packers last year because of Rodgers.

“Aaron would praise him and give him a lot of credit for his personal development,” he told Fleur. “I think any time you have a player like that, especially that talent and how much respect you have for a guy like Aaron, you always listen to that.”

So Clements came back because of Rodgers. And he will remain to put love on his right foot.

“I asked Jordan after the season how he felt about him and he said he loved Tom, and he thought he did a great job helping him, you know, develop over the course of the year,” said LaFleur. “For me, it was a no-brainer. It was just whether or not Tom wanted to come back, so I’m glad he wanted to be here, you know, we’re lucky to have him.

“He’s doing a great job too, not just with our midfielders but just helping us up our attack and giving great suggestions and ideas. You know, it’s been a fun process getting to know him and the standards he holds, that room as well, and he’s doing a great job.”

And so the man the Packers brought back to pacify Rodgers might be the guy who helps make the Packers look smart for turning the page when they did.
