Marvel’s first “official trailer” Thor: Love and Thunder Not to be confused with humor Projection A little over a month ago – debuted tonight during ESPN’s NBA Eastern Conference Finals.
While the teaser gave us our first glimpse of Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster wielding the gavel, tonight’s official trailer gives us our first look at Christian Bale’s much-anticipated role as the butcher of the god Buddy Gore.
There’s also the obligatory “Father to Good God” shift as Thor returns to work after the pizza and beer stage.
A mixture of legends, the new footage includes a trip to Olympus where we see Zeus (Russell Crowe) addressing a lovable Horde, thunderbolt in hand, King Tessa Thompson, Valkyrie battling Gore with a thunderbolt in her hand, and a tethered Thor being stripped – also a bit completely – of his mantle by Zeus. And finally Odin’s savage son Stormbreaker, the mighty ax with a handle made of Groot’s arm.
Directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, Thor: Love and Thunder Opens in US theaters July 8.
