Before the 2022 NBA All-Star Game kicks off, James appears on camera smiling and struggling to stop himself from laughing while performing the national anthem for Macy’s Gray.
The Grammy Award-winning R&B singer sang an odd version of “The Star Spangled Banner,” particularly in its melodic and vocal decisions towards the end of the performance. She was accompanied by a guitarist.
Right after her last note, Gray’s performance started trending on Twitter.
It was a scene similar to Fergie’s performance before the 2018 NBA All-Star Gamewhen co-stars Steph Curry and Draymond Green appeared visibly confused and laughing at the 46-year-old’s performance.
Born Natalie Renee McIntyre, the 54-year-old Gray has been nominated for five Grammy Awards, and won one.
This isn’t the first time an All-Star game has entertained James, who is playing in his 18th edition of the game and leading one of the teams.
