The legendary heavy metal band Metallica in the United States was forced to postpone its September 3 concert in Phoenix, after it was announced that its star, James Hetfield, had tested positive for the Corona virus.

“We are very sorry to report that tomorrow’s M72 date at State Farm Stadium has been postponed to Saturday, September 9, 2023, as unfortunately, Covid has caught up with James,” the band said in a statement. Joint statement On her official account on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The show, which was scheduled for Sunday, was to be the last of two shows in Glendale, Arizona. The band is currently on the M72 tour of the US and is holding two concerts in each city.

Tickets for the September 3 show “will go on sale September 9,” the band said.

COVID-19 cases have been on the rise in the United States this summer.

Nationally, it is the new EG.5 variant, which is part of the recombinant XBB strain of the Omicron family, that is driving the most new infections, according to the latest estimates from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Although the severity rates are currently still at relatively low levels compared to the start of the pandemic, medical experts agree that there is likely to be more infections than current surveillance systems can detect, and they warn of a resurgence of the virus.
