A 19-year-old Palestinian man was stabbed to death by security forces in the old city of Jerusalem on Sunday.

On Sunday morning, Israeli security forces killed a Palestinian man who tried to stab police stationed in the old city of Jerusalem east of the city, police said. Police say a 19-year-old Palestinian man from Israeli-occupied East Jerusalem stabbed one of the officers before firing.

“After 4:30 this morning, a terrorist (19 years old, East Jerusalem) approached the police stationed at the gate of Bob Huta (one of the gates leading to the Esplanade of Mosques, the author’s note). City of Jerusalem. He pulled out a knife and stabbed one of them, ”police said in a statement.

Scene of multiple attacks

The text states that the police responded with bullets and that medical services arrived at the scene and “determined the death of the terrorist.” The Old City of Jerusalem has been the site of numerous attacks against Israeli targets in recent years.

For October 2015 and for several months, Jerusalem, the occupied West Bank and Israel were the scene of mostly anti-Israel stabbing by isolated Palestinian youth. Violence and clashes in the West Bank have escalated over the past year, as such attacks have dwindled, according to the latest figures from the Israeli military and the UN.
