An elementary schooler with a mysterious allergy
Since November, Boëge’s students have been suffering from symptoms, the origin of which remains a mystery.

A mysterious allergy affects some of the pupils of the Boëge primary school in Haute-Savoie (F), in the Green Valley. according to “Freed Dauphine“, the first episode occurred in early November, after a fencing session. Half of the CM2 class (ages 10-11) are affected to varying degrees, especially children with rash. The signs disappeared outside the establishment. But two children suffered from other persistent discomforts: headaches, abdominal pain, respiratory discomfort.
A blood test revealed an unidentified allergy. It manifests after half an hour at school, but treatments are ineffective. Eventually, both students were taken out of school in January and homeschooled. Their companions continue to have mild symptoms. The municipality cleaned the classroom furniture, checked the ventilation, but nothing helped. The regional health agency has launched an epidemiological investigation and air analyzes are underway in hopes of solving the mystery.
