“[Shildt’s] Richardson said (via KNBR). “I think it’s really important to understand what happened tonight. And the second equally disappointing part is that the sentence that this referee gave me enables this coach to continue to have conversations like this with people like me. It’s really unfortunate that’s what happened tonight.
“With this, I am really excited that Alyssa got her chance to make her debut in the Major League and I am very proud of her. I think she did a really great job and we won, so that is the most important thing.”
Scheldt and Padres have yet to comment on the matter, but he and Richardson met on the field Wednesday morning, shaking hands.

“I know that Antoine was not out of control at all and that anything that was said implied was totally inappropriate,” Kapler said on Tuesday night. “He did not incite any part of this.”
