Gavin Stone, Bobby Miller get their picture on the show

The following players are widely available in Yahoo Fantasy Baseball formats and might be worth grabbing, depending on the depth of your league.

Gavin Stone (13%) and Bobby Miller (22%) SP, Los Angeles Dodgers

Both prospects will get a chance in Los Angeles’ rotation with Julio Urillas And Dustin May Recently hit IL. Stone and Miller put in a better showing in 2022 than they had to start 2023, but each carries a fictional upward side playing for the Dodgers that helped Tony Jonsulin Going 16-1 in over 130 innings last year.

Miller is a first-round pick with a big fastball coming off his best start of the season at Triple-A after dealing with shoulder soreness to start the year. Stone relies heavily on his changeup and struggled during his MLB debut earlier this season, but posted dominant Triple-A numbers last season with a 1.12 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 35.5 K%.

The show has been particularly difficult in 2023 With the league’s ERA rising more than expected (Even with the new rules in mind), many young prospects have struggled as a result. On top of that, the Dodgers have an incredibly tough schedule this week; Stone is set to face the Braves and Rays on the road – two of the four best offenses in the WRC+ this season. Taking the stone and/or Miller out with the patient remaining an additional week seems to be the best move, if possible.

Louis Farland SP, Minnesota Twins (29%)

Farland is still somehow available in over 70% of Yahoo tournaments despite powerful peripherals in an incredibly thirsty fantasy environment. SwStr% and K-BB% would both be in the top 20 among rookies if they qualified. xFIP has the best of Gerrit Cole‘s. Farland also due to much better luck moving forward; His 23.3% HR/FB is easily the highest among beginners, and his 292 BABIP comes with a 0.262 BABIP predicted.

In a season full of young advice (Grayson RodriguezBABIP’s expectation is .369 – second-highest in MLB), Farland has quietly impressed and appears poised to help fantasy managers over the rest of the season.

Brenton Doyle, Colorado Rockies (7%)

Doyle isn’t a great MLB prospect, but he’s a lot interesting in fantasy leagues with strength/speed skills while playing at Coors Field. He managed 10 runs/steals on his first 65 at-bats in the major leagues, and while that pace would no doubt look impressive, Doyle Great defense in the middle of the field He should help keep his bat in Colorado’s lineup. The ascendant has a strength of 60 degrees and has a Running speed in the 98th percentile.

The Rockies get seven games into Coors Stadium this week, and stay By far the park’s most suitable hitter in baseball. Coors Field has increased its scoring average by 37% MLB over the past three seasons, when it also boosted the league’s batting average by 18% for a right-handed hitter. Doyle’s board discipline (35.3K% 4.4 BB%) is shaky, but his strength/speed skills at Coors Field make him worth adding in fantasy leagues – especially if you can stream him exclusively at home. Doyle rules!

Jared Walsh, 1B, Los Angeles Angels (9%)

Walsh looked like a sleeper going into the year after being relegated in 2022 thanks to an injury She eventually required season-ending surgery. He had more issues that came up in spring training, like headaches and insomnia, but he’s said to be fine now. Walsh is one season removed from hitting 29 homers with 98 RBI in just 530 at bats, and he had posted 150 wRC+ in limited action the previous year.

Walsh should now be the Angels’ starting first baseman in a heavyweight lineup. Angel Stadium has increased left-handed hitters by 32% over the past three seasons – the third most of any MLB stadium. Walsh remains available in more than 90% of Yahoo consortiums.

Seth Brown, 1B/OF, Oakland A’s (23%)

The Browns are expected to return Monday from IL and will likely settle into the mid-A lineup. He had 25 groundouts and 11 steals in 150-plus games last season with some encouraging early statistic numbers before suffering a minor injury this year. Pat X Projects 114 wRC+ the rest of the season. The Oakland lineup isn’t the worst in the league as expected (not even the bottom 10 in wRC+), and the team has the go-ahead while passing third in 2023. The Browns should quickly add in the fantasy leagues now that it’s true.
