Elon Musk is making two significant changes to Twitter following the ad revenue sharing program – Deadline

Elon Musk has been busy over the weekend dealing with follower requests on Twitter. The social media platform recently introduced an advertising revenue sharing program that rewards creators.

However, not all creators have had the opportunity to get a piece of the ad revenue pie, something Musk indicated that he ended up changing the rules.

The Twitter user wasn’t eligible to monetize their account because it was for a bagel.

“Profiles containing animals or fictional characters are not eligible, unless they are directly related to your brand or organization. Parodies and fan accounts are not eligible for subscriptions,” read Twitter’s Help Center page.

After another user asked Musk to “fix” the problem, Musk answered“,” Consider this ridiculous policy deleted as of right now.

The ad revenue sharing program rewards creators who share their responses, with Twitter giving them a piece of the ad pie on offer. However, one user expressed his dissatisfaction with Musk over a rate limit that prevented a user from interacting with their followers because they had reached their threshold.

Musk promised the user to push boundaries reply“We will increase the rate limit for authorized users by 50%. It should take effect in a few hours.”

In another tweet, Musk explained that only verified users are counted, in theory, these are not bot accounts that can game the system.

“As promised. And soon, we will be sharing ad revenue from profile page views, which should almost double payouts.” added. Note, only views from verified users are counted, as it is trivial to cheat the view count.

The ad revenue sharing program comes as Twitter faces competition from Meta with the launch of Threads that recently passed 100 million users in less than a week. Topics are closely related to Instagram with users from the latter platform being able to use the same username and notify their followers that they have created a profile on the micro-blogging platform.

Threads, currently, do not serve ads which gives Twitter an advantage. Content creators on Musk’s platform are incentivized to stay in the digital space to increase engagement and get higher payouts.
