2023 Dec. On 20-25, another strong high pressure area or cold air from China will expand to cover Thailand and South China Sea. This characteristic results in cold weather with strong winds in Thailand.

  • Northeast temperature will decrease by 5-8 degrees Celsius.
  • In the northern region, the temperature will drop by 4-6 degrees Celsius.
  • The central and eastern regions, including Bangkok and surrounding areas, will see temperatures drop by 3-5 degrees Celsius.
  • In the upper south, the temperature will drop by 2-4 degrees Celsius.

For the hilly areas of the northern region, the weather is cool to very cold. Low temperature 3-10°C and frost at some places. As for the hilly peaks of the northeastern region, the weather is very cold. Low temperature is 5-13 degrees Celsius.

Residents are urged to take care of their health as cold weather prevails. Also, be aware of fire hazards caused by dry weather and strong winds.

Northeast Monsoon will strengthen over the Gulf of Thailand and the southern part. Also, 22-25 Dec. In 2023, a strong low pressure area over the lower South China Sea is likely to move through the lower south and lower Andaman Sea through Malaysia. Due to this, heavy to very heavy rain will occur at some places in lower south region. Residents of low-lying southern regions are advised to be aware of the risk of heavy to very heavy rain and accumulations of rain. This can cause flash floods and flash floods. This includes areas of mountain slopes especially near waterways and low lying areas.

Regarding wind waves in the Gulf of Thailand, 22-25 Dec. They will be stronger in 2023, with waves 2-4 meters high. In stormy areas, waves can exceed 4 meters. In the Andaman Sea, waves are around 2 meters high in places.Thundershowers and waves can rise above 2 meters from the shore.

Residents of the southeast coast have been asked to be aware of the dangers posed by waves hitting the shore. As for boaters in the Gulf of Thailand and Andaman Sea, they should proceed with caution and avoid sailing in thunderstorm areas. Small boats in the Gulf of Thailand should avoid leaving the shore during these days.
