Second girl dies in accident at Wimbledon

Nuria, who was hospitalized in critical condition after her driver rammed into the building of a British private school on Thursday, succumbed to her injuries on Sunday.

A second 8-year-old girl died on Sunday Thursday’s crash at WimbledonA car crashed into a school in the suburbs of London on the eve of school holidays, police said.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our beloved Nuria on Sunday 9 July,” said a statement from London police, along with a message from the child’s family. Nuria was admitted to hospital after the accident and was later in a critical condition.

Another 8-year-old child, Selina, died in the accident on Thursday morning at a private girls’ school in the presence of students and parents, on the eve of school holidays.

Released on bail

A 40-year-old woman remains “in a serious condition in hospital”, police said on Sunday, after they ruled out terror leaders. Several others have been hospitalized but their lives are not in danger.

The driver of the vehicle, a 46-year-old resident of Wimbledon, has been released on bail. He was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of “dangerous driving causing death”.
