California DMV Expands Digital Driver’s License Program: How to Enroll

Have you ever wished you had your driver’s license on your phone? If you live in California, now you can!

The California Department of Motor Vehicles announced that it has expanded its pilot program that allows drivers to obtain a digital license or ID – also known as an “mDL” (mobile driver’s license).

According to the DMV website, The free trial program is now open to 1.5 million participants.

All you have to do is download the “CA DMV Wallet” app at internal control Department And android.

But don’t even think about leaving your driver’s license or physical ID at home right now.

The DMV said it’s important to note that “law enforcement agencies, state government agencies, and businesses do not yet accept an mDL,” and “only some airports and a bunch of retail locations I support them.”

Regarding your personal information, the DMV says it “does not permanently store your personal data,” but does keep your phone number and “an encrypted image of your DL/ID card.”

Additionally, mDL is only available within the app, and you can’t add it to your Apple or Google digital wallet yet, but DMV said it hopes to bring mDL to more platforms in the future.
