Geraldine Frey, Ajla Del Ponte, Salome Cora and Sarah Atcho were the four relay runners named by their coach Adrian Rothenbuehler for the 4 x 100m relay at the Worlds in Eugene (Oregon). But they ended up securing the essentials.

The women’s relay coach took a gamble by not letting Mujinga Kampanji rest after six races in six days. He lost almost everything.

But in the end, the Swiss relay, deprived of its natural leader, managed to get the essentials. Fifth in the second qualifying round, and therefore eliminated instead, Switzerland ran faster than China, finishing ninth. took twenty hundredths (42”73 vs. 42”93).

So the Swiss relay will compete in the 4 x 100m relay final this Saturday to Sunday (4:30am Swiss time). It remains to be seen what the composition of this relay will be, with Mujinga Kompanji logically returning to the team.
