AmericaHe uses his Tesla to kill his family, but it doesn’t go as planned
A 41-year-old doctor intentionally drove his car over a cliff in California on Monday. He miraculously survived the 80 meter fall, along with his wife and their children.
Dr. Dharmesh Arvin Patel certainly did not expect this scenario. On Monday, a 41-year-old man drove his Tesla off the “Devil’s Slide” cliff between Pacifica and Montana (California). He was accompanied by his wife and two children aged 7 and 4, according to reports KTVU. Robin Johnson saw a white car “speeding” out of a tunnel. “Then I see in my rearview mirror the vehicle diving over the barrier,” he says.
A witness alerted emergency services after witnessing the nearly 80m fall. In no time, nearly fifty rescuers were on site. To their surprise, the four occupants of the Tesla were alive and conscious. Rescuers were able to pull the two children up using ropes, but a helicopter intervened to pull the parents away. Four family members who were injured have been hospitalized, but their lives are not in danger. “It’s nothing short of a miracle that they survived,” said Brian Pottenger, a fire chief.
Authorities are waiting for Dr. Patel to recover from his injuries before taking him to jail. According to the California Highway Patrol’s (CHP) first findings, the radiologist’s gesture was voluntary. “Based on evidence gathered, investigators have reason to believe this incident was an intentional act,” it said. In a press release of the CHP. Officials did not provide details of the evidence in question, nor did they specify the motive. The 40-year-old has been charged with attempted murder and child abuse.
