Update on fire at a chemical warehouse in Ayutthaya, Fachi Hospital remains closed as air pollution levels exceed. Ready to Monitor Public Health Effects Symptoms of eye irritation were detected – dizziness in 74 cases.

I visited the area to monitor the progress of the chemical warehouse fire in Phachi District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province.

Dr Opas said that since visiting the area it was discovered that the Medical and Public Health Emergency Operations Center (PHEOC), Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Provincial Public Health Office was able to quickly deal with the incident by closing the Fachi Hospital. 35 inpatients were evacuated from the area within 600 meters of the scene 17 cases were sent home and the remaining 8 cases were sent to Tha Ruya Hospital, Somdet Bra Sankarat Chau Hospital. Khrom Luang Chinnavaralongkorn (Wasana Maha Thera) 7 cases and Udai Hospital 3 cases, opened a field hospital in Wat Kok Muang. The Leeward side provides basic outpatient and emergency services. Today there are 28 service recipients, 9 of whom are affected (eye irritation, throat irritation) 80 chronic disease patients who have been appointed to the hospital, they have used the health rider to dispense medication.

'The local public health department organized 7 physical impact assessment teams to monitor the health effects of people within a radius of 1 kilometer, a total of 599 people, 74 people in 109 households had symptoms of eye irritation, dizziness, but no severe symptoms, and follow up with whole lung X-ray to monitor the effects. A scheduled psychiatric examination revealed that 42 subjects were mildly depressed, 9 were moderately depressed, and 3 were severely depressed.

Dr. Opus also said that environmental impacts from measuring air quality inside the Bachi Hospital building were found to still contain pollutant levels due to burning above the benchmarks. Therefore, the service has to be temporarily shut down. We will continue to monitor air quality every day and gradually return to service until safety is assured. In this context, he stressed the importance of security. Health surveillance guidelines are communicated to people in the area. and monitor short, medium and long-term impacts.
