New allegations target the Biden clan. The Republican-elect said Wednesday that Joe Biden’s family members and their associates have received nearly $10 million from foreign companies, particularly Chinese and Romanian ones.
The allegations are part of a long-running campaign targeting the controversial affairs of Hunter Biden, the Democratic president’s son. The right-wing accuses her of using her name and her father’s address book to engage in dubious deals in several countries during her tenure as Barack Obama’s vice president (2009-2017).

The “lack of transparency” was slammed by Republicans
In a statement released Wednesday, Republicans elected to the House committee responsible for overseeing the executive branch confirm that other family members, including the president’s brother or daughter-in-law, have done business in China or Romania.
Elected officials rely on bank statements obtained thanks to their commission’s investigative powers, and explain that people close to Joe Biden created a nefarious network of companies to hide the origins of the funds.
“The lack of transparency surrounding the Biden family’s foreign affairs raises significant questions for national security,” they write. “Hunter Biden received more than a million dollars (…) from a company controlled by a Romanian accused of corruption when Vice President Biden gave lessons on ethics and anti-corruption in Romania”, as an example of them.
Their report does not impute any illegal activity to Biden and never makes any direct connection to the US president. But during a press conference, then-elect Byron Donalds was adamant that “Joe Biden knew.”
Hunter Biden’s escape, the president’s Achilles heel
In a press release, their commission’s elected Democrats accused their Republican colleagues of “selection of misinformation.”
For the White House, which deemed it “absurd” to accuse Joe Biden of serving China’s interests, “based on baseless accusations and personal attacks,” it avoided entering the retail business.
The affairs and escapades of Hunter Biden, a longtime drug addict, represent a weak link to Joe Biden, who, at age 80, has announced he will run for re-election in 2024. But the president never let up. “My son has done nothing wrong, I trust him,” she said again in early May, despite being threatened with a federal prosecution for tax evasion.
