Event Details

A group of local herbalists have partnered with the Mount Community Gardens to build a Community Medicine Garden. The project is envisioned to be a resource where community members can learn about the practical uses and healing properties of plants, in addition to how to identify, propagate, tend, harvest and process them.

Due to the expanding popularity of herbal medicine and shrinking woodland habitat, a striking number of these once abundant life forms are at-risk. The Peterborough Community Medicine Garden also aims to restore our capacity to sustainably use them and care for each other.

The project will be hosting a number of free workshops where the community is invited to care for, harvest and prepare herbal medicine. The project aspires to bring herbal knowledge back to our community and enable us, by working together, to become reacquainted with these herbal healers.

The ‘Garden Walk & Talk’ will offer visitors an introduction to the over twenty medicinal plants already planted and join in on an ever-expanding conversation about plants, health, and community.

Meet us behind the Mount Community Centre in the Mount Community Gardens and bring your notebook!
